The Coral Way Bilingual K-8 Center is a public prekindergarten through eighth-grade school located in Miami, Florida. It serves over 1,000 students and has a student-teacher ratio of 16-to-1. The school was founded in 1936 and was first known as Coral Way Elementary School. The school is famous for being a pioneer in bilingual teaching and began teaching in English and Spanish in 1963. During that time, the school received funding from the Ford Foundation and the school district leaders, Ralph Robinett, Dr. Rosa Inclan, Dr. Pauline Rojas and Dr. Joseph Hall, also known as Cuban aides, implemented the school’s bilingual curriculum. Today, the school is Designated as a Bilingual School Organization (BISO). The dual language English/Spanish program believes that academic skills can be transferred from one language to another. Students spend the majority of their day being taught in and interacting in English and the remainder of their day in Spanish. Some of the advantages of receiving a bilingual education are improved academic performance, increased ability to solve problems and think creatively, improved focus and decision-making, enhanced linguistic awareness, improved cultural and social skills, improved overall brain function and improved executive functions. The school also offers an International Studies Program.

I attended and it was a great experience the school is small so there are many ones on one chance with teachers. The school had a small number so I can say I knew every one of the people in my graduation 8th-grade year.

Ha sido de gran bendición para mis hijos y para mí, ellos no hablaban inglés y en 2 meses he visto el avance. Las maestras son geniales y les han apoyado mucho. Ellos están felices en su escuela.

I am truly blessed to live a block away from this public school. I have a 4th-grade daughter and a VPK daughter. I have only awesome things to say about this school. The teachers are really kind, committed, and prepared. Every single person I encountered in the Admin Office is excellent, and truly f...

Awesome local bilingual school. We moved our kids here from a private school, and were so happy. The teachers are great, the education is actually much tougher, the kids are generally more down to earth and nicer. Not to say it's paradise, but a much healthier and happier environment. There are lots...
