GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

The best part of going there was being in an academy, if I was there for any other reason I would have hated it. The teachers that work there can be very kind or very rude and there was no good middle. I would like to see the school have better inclusion.

Chopticon is a average high school. There are some things I wish my school did. Chopticon does not prepare students for college, to elaborate the process . When I was applying there were so many things that I didn't know about. Chopticon is not a bad school but in terms of college readiness they are not there.

I enjoyed being a part of the social involvement on school grounds. There were many clubs and school activities involved. I do wish that Chopticon pushed more concepts or habits to help students be more prepared before entering college

i must say that I was a bit skeptical of Chopticon when we entered the school system, however considering it is the best in St. Mary's County, this is the school district we chose to move into. Our sons really love it here and I am very impressed with the teachers and their dedication. Unfortunately...
