For more than 100 years, Uptown New Orleans’ Isidore Newman School has striven for excellence in education. Tucked away on an 11-acre campus a few blocks off of St. Charles Avenue, this non-denominational, co-educational, pre-K through 12th grade school has grown to become known as one of the most prestigious private institutions in Louisiana. By providing both a challenging curriculum and a rich learning environment, the school has produced three Rhodes scholars over the years, and many of it students have received National Merit recognition. The school’s alumni roster reads like a who’s who of the city’s best and brightest — including children’s author Mo Willems, “Mad Men” actor Bryan Batt, and singer, composer and actor Harry Connick Jr. Alumni like Peyton and Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr. demonstrate that the school’s sports department is just as impressive as its academic programs. By encouraging its students to work hard, dream big and achieve academic success, Isidore Newman School enjoys a well-earned national reputation for excellence and achievement in academics, athletics and the arts.

Graduated from Newman, and have children there. One is class of 2020 and another class of 2023. I have watched the school grow and improve in every way over 4 decades. A special place that prepares students for life and higher education.

Isidore Newman is a small private school in New Orleans, so with that comes issues with the imbalance between those who are affluent and those who are not. The school does a pretty good job of trying to encourage diversity and inclusion but it is still a work in progress. As a female of color, I have had both good and bad experiences with this but overall I feel safe and cared for in this environment.

As a student who transferred in from a public New Orleans high school in the 9th grade, I can definitely say it was one of the better decisions I've made in my life. I've found that there are countless resources available and at you're disposal, the kids are not snobby like whats expected (in fact t...

Both of my children attended Newman for grades 8-12. The school did an excellent job preparing them for college by providing them with a diverse curriculum and a high degree of emphasis on math, comprehensive reading and writing. There is a large emphasis on academic excellence at the school which i...

Isidore Newman School is a horrible school. Most of the kids, as well as teachers there are snobs. The high school has HORRIBLE drug problems. The teachers are mean to any lower schooler, unless their parents have money. Newman wants perfect children, and if your child has a different belief or way...

I have a sixth grader at Newman - no better school in New Orleans - hands down. If someone feels they have been treated poorly because of their socio-economic status, please bring this to the attention of your advisor. I find the kids to be upbeat, fun and competitive - all tools which will help the...
