St. George’s Episcopal School is a private institution accepting students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. They also offer an early childhood program which allows children as young as one to enter, although space is limited. The school is coed and has numerous club sport options for all 375 students including cheerleading, track, flag football, tennis, and basketball. Students wishing to join other extracurriculars have their choice of reading club, robotics club, and yearbook among several others. For the more artistically inclined, classes such as choir, band, drama, painting, and creative writing can help students to expand their creativity while instilling discipline. The school has an overall grade of A for academics and a student-teacher ratio of 6:1 making one-on-one time a part of every course; in fact, one of the core values of St. George’s is to encourage each child to develop their unique interests and talents in preparation for higher education and later life. Alumni have been accepted into such universities as Oberlin College, Johns Hopkins University, and Sewanee: The University of the South. Needless to say, St. George’s has come a long way from their humble beginnings. Founded in 1969, for the first seven years of its existence this school held classes in a cramped undercroft in St. George’s Episcopal Church before moving into the more traditional red brick building it still occupies today.

Students with specific interests are often overlooked and passed over for other students. Sports teams for example are not picked based on merit but which students the coaches actually know. Do not send your kid to St George thinking she can get access to great opportunities she has a passion to pursue.

Sadly I am a student at this school and I can't wait to graduate. The teachers are ok but the students are the worst. Constantly bothering any student who they see as "different" to them. They belittle and bully people in various ways. It just adds to the load of stress a student has.

We absolutely love St. George's and their small class sizes and wonderful faculty. My son feels like his teachers and classmates understand and celebrate his strengths, and he genuinely wants to go to school.

Terrible. Just terrible. The headmaster is an awful and fake human being who says what he thinks you want hear and only cares about the families who bring in money. Ask them about their math scores and you will see how far behind they are. Unless your child is innately smart, they won’t be prepared...

StG is a warm and caring place that is filled with educators who care deeply about the children they work with. My daughter is in 8th grade and has had the most wonderful educators from Kindergarten through 8th grade. The faculty and staff know her as an individual and challenge her academically. No...

Where to start? This school is incredibly, incredibly toxic and degrading for mental health. Everyone says to be yourself in this school, but once you try to, everyone outcasts you as soon as they realize you don't fit into their perfect little square box. As I mentioned before, this school will und...

Bullying was rampant and the online harassment was even worse. This is not a safe environment for children. Headmaster did nothing to help our daughter and we finally removed her from the school.
