Public School 41 is a public elementary neighborhood school serving children in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Founded in 1867, P.S. 41 is located in Greenwich Village in New York City. In 1957, the old P.S. 41 was torn down and replaced by a new building and is now part of the McBurney YMCA located at 116 West 11th Street. Public School 41 reflects the rich cultural diversity of the Greenwich Village neighborhood and incorporates the resources of the neighborhood into their studies. They believe that each child and family bring a unique set of experiences, perspectives and abilities to the school. The curriculum provides a wide range of academics for all students and strives to provide cross-cultural understandings among pupils while promoting a strong sense of social responsibility, and to ensure all students succeed within the school and beyond. At Public School 41, 88% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 81% scored at or above that level for reading. The student-to-teacher ratio is 15-to-1 with 691 students.
