GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

In my experience at Oakland High, I can feel that the teachers really care about my success and that I can ask them for help with my classwork or with other classes. They are always willing to answer any questions that I might have, which I have always appreciated. At the wellness center, they offer counciling. They have helped me build a good support system and healthy ways to cope when I'm struggling with my mental health, which is quite often. The future center offers programs to help with college applications and FAFSA forms. They helped me set goals for my Junior and Senior year, which has helped me in return feel prepared to pursue higher education and fill out my applications with confidence. Something I would change is the lunch menu. I don't feel excited to eat lunch at my school because the menu feels repetitive and there isn't a lot of variety in terms of culture in the food options. If there was more variety, I would feel more excited and I'm sure others would too.

What I like about Oakland High is the diversity at the school, as well as the many accessible resources that it offers to students, such as internships, health services, academic support and many other things.

Given that I am now a senior and a person who has disabillity. I was able to get as much help as I needed. Throughout my sophomore and junior year I've been taught how to budget. some of the science classes I was in has some hands on activities. They were a lot sports but they didn't have a dance team any like that.
