Shidler Elementary School is a multicultural school located within the Shidler-Wheeler neighborhood in a classic red brick building with white stone. The student body is made up of 352 students from Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grades. Typical student-teacher ratios fall around 14:1, which is below the state average. While some student enrollment has gone down over the years, teacher employment continues to grow year over year. Many students that attend Shidler Elementary are bilingual. The school has a large minority population, higher than many schools in the state of Oklahoma, but diversity has remained pretty consistent over the past few years. Though test scores have been below the state average, the main goal of teachers and staff is to provide quality and equitable opportunities to receive a world class education that will propel them in life and in their future careers. They focus on providing an individualized approach and help students get back in the groove after distance learning. In addition to core subjects, students participate in art and drawing, music and choir, physical education and they can also take foreign language classes. Many students take part in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and volunteer outside of their regular school day.
