Engelwood Elementary School is a public school serving the Engelwood Park neighborhood in Orlando, Florida. The school was built in the 1950s and the campus exterior's burnt orange and pale gray walls blend seamlessly into the beautiful Florida landscape. Teaching pre-kindergarten through fifth grade with a population of just under 600 students, Engelwood Elementary is home to a federally funded Head Start program for educational enrichment in addition to gifted programs, ESOL, digital learning and fine arts education. Extracurricular activities include the Science Olympiad, Art Club, Chorus, Safety Patrol and Thespian Club. Students also host the morning and afternoon announcements from the school’s media center each day. PTA events also provide several opportunities for community participation throughout the year, including a 5K run fundraiser, skate party nights, bake sales and donation drop-offs in partnership with local businesses to help provide students with supplies. Students and faculty at Engelwood Elementary often wear red and black, the school colors, to represent their mascot, The Cardinals, and to promote school pride.

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
