GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

My experience at Potomac High was great. I enjoyed my four years as I grew in various ways through the 3DE Program that was implemented my freshman year. The program had helped me become a leader and showed me that I can do incredible things such as receiving a certificate of recognition from a United States Senator. My experience at Potomac helped me gain the skills and attributes I have now to be prepared for my post-secondary educational journey.

I am a class of 2024 scholar of Potomac High. That means my first year of high school was strictly online with no real engagement with teachers. But when I did go in person, 10th grade, it was an amazing atmosphere. I wasn't overwhelmed and there were tens of kids that felt the same as me. And there were chances to speak on it. The only thing I would say needs to change or to be updated is how the teachers interact with the students. It was never really a chance for them to be polite with us. It was always them on defense and us reacting. Which would sometimes stunt our learning which is a no-no in general.

The academic curriculum could have been more challenging and there could have been more support with college readiness but the school spirit was amazing.

The teachers that I've encountered are great. They really seem to be invested in my kids' future. Some of the kids are a bit rough, so they have their hands full, but they work hard for the kids that work hard for them. :-) They have a decent AFJROTC program. I use that term very loosely, but I may...

When I attended the Potomac it was the best experience by far. I come from the south where the school systems don't give a child of color a fair chance in learning. By far the teachers and staff really care about what they are teaching the youngsters that attend the school. The youth just has to be...

Is it too much to think that stakeholders should exercise a reasonable level of confidentiality and/or discretion? My concern about this school is related to the way administrators handle issues. I sent a letter to a stakeholder requesting clarification of whether or not an instructor's remarks in c...
