Since 1966, Lakewood High School has served as a magnet school for the Greater Pinellas Point neighborhood in St. Petersburg. This school specializes in teaching for 10th through 12th grade students and offers curriculums specifically to students interested in specific career fields. Lakewood offers journalism, health and wellness, aquatics management, marine sciences and technology courses. The school’s technology program is affiliated with the Microsoft Showcase School partnership program and only accepts 150 students a year. Lakewood also offers over 20 student clubs, many within the scientific realms such as astronomy, Women in STEM and robotics. Besides extracurricular opportunities, the school has numerous scholarships and continuing education partners. One scholarship is through the Pinellas Education Foundation. Students awarded this funding must continue their education within the community service, arts or science realms. Students who maintain a GPA over 3.5 or SAT score over 1100 are guaranteed admission to the University of South Florida with the opportunity to earn up to a $2,000 scholarship. With so many unique opportunities, Lakewood High School creates positive outcomes for students and the Greater Pinellas Point community.

The CAT program there is underfunded with a lot of run down equipment and infrastructure. The overall school is okay but it feels like they could do better. A lot of the good experienced teachers are leaving.

Lakewood has astute teachers who do their job well and understand their students. I feel safe in my environment and enjoy the activities around the campus.

this school is the worst they only care about football players the teachers don't even care no more the kids run over the teachers and the teachers just letting them don't come here only the football team is good

I went to Lakewood for about 2 years in my Freshmen-Sophomore years. The school is one year (as of 2023) away from being taken over by the state because of how bad their test scores are and haven't shown any improvement.
