Christian Evers Elementary School is a part of the Northside Independent School District. The school is named after Christian Evers Sr., who in 1894, with several other men, brought education to the Leon Valley by building its first schoolhouse. The school was built on two acres of land donated by Evers at the corner of Evers and Huebner. In 1924, the school was moved by tractor to a new location at the corner of Bandera and Grissom roads and in 1992, a new facility was built at its current location. In the 2020 – 2021 school year, Evers Elementary School enrolled approximately 665 students. There are 48 full-time teachers giving a student to teacher ratio of 14:1, which is below the national average. Evers Elementary School serves grades pre-K through five. Niche, which evaluates colleges and schools on several competencies, rated Evers Elementary School above average in the areas of academics and student body diversity. Offering a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics curriculum as well as English as a Second Language program makes Evers Elementary School an academic gem within the district. Evers Elementary School is located in the western portion of San Antonio, serving the northwestern section of the Westover Hills Neighborhood District and a much broader area to the northwest.

The teachers are easily accessible and are great with communication. The principal and vice principal are very friendly a...

My school is great! I have a kindergarten student and have loved the school since the first day. They have given my child so much positive re-enforcement and hands on help. They really want each child to do well and every teacher is a volunteered member of the PTA. I wish more parents would get invo...

My son attended this school for two years. We were very pleased with his education and especially with the teachers he had. This hit home when we moved and discovered that his new school was almost a year behind in what they were teaching. My son was definitely challenged and responded well to that...
