Founded in 1980, this children’s community is located less than 10 minutes from the town center in Rancho Bernardo, California. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 21-to-1, Westwood Elementary School has nearly 40 full-time staff members. That way, students can feel fully supported at all times.
Home to the Roadrunners, Westwood Elementary is one of the most highly regarded schools in the Poway Unified School District. Not only has it been voted as a California Distinguished School, but it has also received the National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence award. My experience with this school is horrible, I came here when I was younger and its far more worse than it used to be. I always hear in my neighborhood kids complaining about the vice principal and how she is not even allowing kids to play basketball unless they did some sort of basketball boot camp....

Our first year at this school was a 100% remote experience, and It has been fair, challenging, and inclusive. I am very impressed with the curriculum and our daughter’s progress. This experience has been far superior to what we went through in Phoenix and it has reaffirmed our decision to move back...

This school is across from large apartment complex and there seems to be high turnover of students. The teachers in younger grades are good but as kids get older not so much.
