Great community and learning environment. Diverse population that is celebrated. This small school has resources of a much larger school with the advantage of small class sizes and dedicated faculty and staff to help every child reach their full potential.

We put our upper primary age British daughters into the school as a transition from living in the uk to the USA. Overall, we found it a very good experience for them. Positives: + Upper primary is a warm nurturing environment. + General teacher quality ranges from very good to superb + Solid use of the surrounding community and greater D.C. resources + Commitment to the English GC which includes things like drama productions for each year group, strong emphasis on Maths and English + Good integration of new students into the very diverse international student body + Good vision for the school with the construction of its own gym Cons: - Academic rigour compared to a highly competitive west london privately maintained primary school just isn't the same. (NB: American-origin students will likely find themselves behind because children start a year later) - Slightly lower funding means they can't provide quite the range of extra offerings as nearby DC privates Overall a solid choice

BISW is an excellent school option for an IB Program in the DC area. Academics are strong, school culture is diverse and nice, and the program promotes curiosity in the students, and encourage good and deep thinkers.

BISW Student Here. The management and authority are horrendous. There is an extreme lack of communication between staff members, often leading to a negative experience for the students. Not only is the authority bad, as no rule seems to apply to anyone but it is also messy. The school faculty is ver...

My son is in pre-nursery and absolutely loves going to school. The teachers are very warm and friendly and have taught him so much. The community with the other parents is amazing, and the head of primary is such a warm and capable person. I wish I had brought my older kids here sooner!

I currently am a student at this school. The food quality and sanitation are horrendous. The bathrooms are dirty and often not in service, and there is a lot of bullying happening. In the classroom, students are disruptive and disrespectful to the teacher and their peers. The teachers are stubborn a...

My daughter in the preschool program and we love it. The teachers are caring and highly qualified. Stimulating curriculum with music classes and weekly library sessions. Wonderful environment for young children to learn and play.
