Have you ever dreamed of living next to Beverly Hills? While Bingham Farms may be located in the rural exurbs of Metro Detroit, living here puts you next to the historic Detroit suburb of Beverly Hills, major state and interstate highways, local retail amenities, and popular golfing outlets, complete with stunning houses.

Founded in 1823, Bingham Farms was a quiet farming community until the arrival of Telegraph Road in 1928. This major road, which continues to serve as Bingham Farms’ main commercial thoroughfare, incorporated Bingham Farms into the growing suburbia of Metro Detroit, and Bingham Farms was incorporated as a village in 1955 and named for one of Bingham Farms’ most prominent families. It was not until 1984 that the village’s roads were paved, and the next three years saw the village rapidly develop. Bingham Farms’ woods and ravines have been conserved through zoning ordinances, allowing for this increasingly modernized suburb to retain the natural feel alluded to by its name.

Bingham Farms is still a primarily residential community; hundreds of single-family homes and townhouses line quiet, winding streets. Bingham Farms’ housing market is dominated by ranch-style homes, varying from houses built with colonial-style aesthetic touches to more recently constructed homes built in stone. Bingham Farms is even more expensive than neighboring Beverly Hills; homes in Bingham Farms vary in price from as low as $700,000 to as high as nearly $5 million for a five-bedroom, five-bathroom house with a four-car garage.

While Bingham Farms may be almost entirely made up of stately homes and charming ranches, residents are just a five-minute drive away from the local area’s conveniences. The Tel-Twelve Mall on Telegraph Road has a suburban homeowner covered – there’s a Meijer for your grocery needs, a Lowe’s to help beautify your garden, a PetSmart for your furry friends, and several other well-known stores. On the way down the road, perhaps you may enjoy a laid-back meal at the Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern, a local chain known for its extensive beer list and its comfort food classics, from quesadillas and Cuban sandwiches to pizza and steak frites.

If you’re a fan of golf, check out one of the local country clubs, including the Oakland Hills Country Club, home to a vast golf course which has hosted major golf events such as the 2004 Ryder Cup. Play where golf legends like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson competed, and see if your swing matches up, or simply enjoy the weather and the thrill of self-competition.

Students have the same opportunities for self-growth at the highly-rated Birmingham City School District. Bingham Farms Elementary School, Berkshire Middle School, and Groves High School have all received “A” ratings on Niche.com, with Groves standing out as the highest-rated magnet high school in the state.

Commuters live just 20 miles from the heart of Detroit, and every journey into the city is facilitated by a quick drive down either Route 10 or Interstates 696 and 75.

Bingham Farms offers the scenic beauty that its name suggests, the luxurious lifestyles that being next to a “Beverly Hills” promises, and a blissful suburban quiet enjoyed by most Oakland County residents.
