A recreational golf community in Southwest Florida
Residents prepare to hit the links when they move into the Trafalgar neighborhood of Cape Coral. With two highly rated golf courses in its boundaries, this luxurious neighborhood offers plenty of activity, all while being just minutes from the beach. “People move here for the weather and because it’s more affordable than places like Miami and Sarasota. They have more options in Trafalgar,” says Brian Ludden, a Realtor with Pinnacle Property Group who has lived in the area for over four decades. “It’s also one of the only golf communities in the area.” Trafalgar is located on the western side of the city of Cape Coral, right next to the Matlacha Pass National Wildlife Refuge. The neighborhood has several canals that flow alongside its quiet residential streets. “It’s a very outdoorsy area where people mainly enjoy fishing, boating and golfing,” Ludden says. Because of Trafalgar’s central location in the heart of Cape Coral, residents are never far from the activities that Southwest Florida has to offer.

Golfing with Florida wildlife and friends
Cape Royal Golf Club — on the western edge of the neighborhood —is one of the best-kept secrets in the Fort Myers area. It’s sure to please the most avid golfers with the 27-hole, championship-level course. Golfers are regularly welcomed by Herons and Egrets as they make their way across the course. Palmetto Pine Country Club offers players a challenging course on the eastern side of the neighborhood. After an intense game, people can visit Windows on the Green to enjoy the different dinner specials throughout the week. Athletes visit Cape Coral Sports Complex for games of baseball, softball and soccer. There’s also a playground here for little ones and a walking trail where people can relax and birdwatch. In the summer, residents can rent a kayak, canoe or boat and get out on the water nearby. Families head to the Sun Splash Waterpark to relax in the lazy river and ride the water slides during the warmer months.

Waterfront living in Spanish Revivals
Single-family homes mostly consist of Spanish Revivals ranging from $350,000 to $700,000. The canals provide water access for most homes in the area, but boats are not as common here as they are in other parts of the city. Several gated communities call the neighborhood home, such as Sandoval, Trafalgar Woods and Heatherwood Lakes. Here, home prices range from $480,000 to $650,000. These communities offer extra privacy and luxury to their residents and come with several amenities. Homeowners in these areas have access to private swimming pools, tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, playgrounds, disc golf courses and much more.

Kids can attend Trafalgar Elementary School, which earns a B-plus from Niche, before moving on to Trafalgar Middle School, which receives an A-plus. Both schools are located in the center of the neighborhood off Trafalgar Parkway. The middle school has a collaborative gardening class for students. Curious minds may advance to Cape Coral High School, which is known for its athletic programs and earns an A from Niche.

Craft burgers and warm baked goods
Morning people can always get their day started with coffee and classic breakfast dishes at House of Omelets. Foodies visit Keg & Cow on Surfside Boulevard for their craft burgers and extensive beer menu. According to Ludden, Lobster Lady Seafood Market is another popular restaurant that has a large seafood menu ranging from lobster bisque to sushi rolls. Residents can easily stock up on groceries at Aldi or Publix, which is north of the neighborhood on Pine Island Road. There’s also a farmer’s market in Cape Coral that’s open every Saturday morning, where people also grab fresh baked goods, homemade jams, salsa that’s made on-site, and more at the intersection of S.E. 47th Terrace and S.E. 10th Place.
