Upscale suburb near Northern Virginia amenities

Greenway Heights is a lavish suburb on the banks of the Potomac River. This commuter-friendly community in McLean, Virginia, attracts diplomats, executives, government officials and military personnel due to its location 10 miles south of Washington, D.C., and access to Metro stations and major highways that lead throughout the area. Greenway Heights is also near Tysons, with its Fortune 500 companies’ headquarters, luxury shopping and restaurant options. Plus, the neighborhood is zoned for one of the most highly rated school districts in the country. “People from all over the world want to live in the McLean area,” says Sharon Hayman, Realtor and vice president of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty, who has sold homes throughout Northern Virginia for nearly 30 years. “The location is so close to D.C., the education is great and people care about their community.”

About 10 miles to Washington, D.C.

Greenway Heights is car-dependent; its seclusion draws residents. However, the suburb is highly accessible to city centers and transportation hubs. D.C. is about 10 miles north, and locals can get there using George Washington Memorial Parkway or U.S. Interstate 495, also called the Capitol Beltway. To avoid traffic, Silver Line Metro stations in McLean and Tysons Corner provide direct access to the nation’s capital, Arlington and Reston. When it’s time to fly, the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is about 14 miles away and the Dulles International Airport is about 20 miles away.
