With a pastoral landscape and attractive downtown hub, Northville Township balances its agricultural past with an urban future. Its neighborly feel and quirky local businesses make Northville Township an irresistible beacon of Midwestern magic. Residences in this area are a delightful mix of styles. Because Northville Township dates to the 19th century, many Victorian homes from this era can be found lining the blocks. However, there’s still much growth to be seen in the many contemporary subdivisions that have sprung up along the way. Wide streets are complemented by ripe green vistas thanks to the spacious front lawns and abundant trees that embellish the neighborhood. Houses vary widely in price. Two-bed/ one-bath homes begin at $192,000 while five-bed/ seven-bath homes can go as high as $5.7 million.

Northville Township has many ways to get around. It boasts a walkable layout. It also has access to Interstates 275 and 96 as well as Michigan State Route 14. Residents can make a 20-mile drive to Ann Arbor or the 27-mile drive to Detroit. The township also shares a great relationship with the nearby city of Northville, so the city’s own amenities, such as its excellent restaurants and boutique stores, are available less than two miles away.

Kids in the Northville Township area can attend schools in the Northville Public Schools District, many of which have impeccable credentials and excellent programs. Moraine Elementary School earned an A-rating from Niche. Meads Mill Middle School and Northville High School also both earned A-plus ratings and offer courses for Project Lead the Way, a program designed to give students hands-on opportunities in biomedical engineering and science.

After school, there’s countless fun activities waiting at Northville Township’s many parks. For instance, Northville Community Park is a great place to take the kids after school or walk the dogs on weekends with its multiple playgrounds and walkable pathways. Waterford Bend Park has a picnic shelter that can seat 100 and hosts the Wayne County Fishing Derby every June. Adventurers will love hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding at Maybury State Park.

There are several great spots to grab a bite to eat in Northville Township. The Red Dot Coffee Company is a convenient quiet place to work or study while enjoying a cup of joe. Rebecca’s Family Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor is famous for their Reuben sandwiches and vintage interior design. George’s Senate Coney Island Restaurant, a Northville institution since 1937, offers all-day breakfasts and authentic Greek food.

The township also has a wide variety of places for shopping. Kroger, Trader Joe’s and Meijer are available for everyday grocery needs. Great Harvest Bread Co. has fresh bakery items and Spice and Tea Merchants offers nearly 500 common and rare spices. Gardenviews has a great collection of home and garden décor in stock, and The Michigan Store sells local products and gifts not found in any other state.

Lastly, Northville Township draws its strength from creativity and connection. Residents can glimpse work by local artists at the Northville Art House or join community-run parades, markets, mixers, fundraisers and more. “Whether it’s tragedy or opportunity, the people of Northville come together,” says realtor Denise Bondoni of Coldwell Banker Realty. “You can find comfort there. People here support each other and help each other out.” There’s a warm camaraderie that surrounds Northville Township and it’s ready to welcome more to the mix.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
