A stroll around the Chesterfield Montessori School campus will take you past a children’s garden, tennis and basketball courts, playgrounds, and a prairie restoration project, where students frequently take nature walks. Inside the building, three program levels serve children ages 16 months to 12 years. The philosophy for each program is to provide individualized learning, where lessons are designed and given to each child when they are most ready to learn. The resulting educational environment is designed to encourage independence and self-confidence and inspire a passion for knowledge and learning. At the toddler level, the focus is on practical life activities, language, problem solving, art, music, motor development, and outdoors and garden. The primary classroom focuses on practical life activities, sensorial development, language, cultural subjects, and math. When students reach the elementary level (ages 6-12 years), they pursue interests in history, math, geography, biology, and language. Exploration is encouraged by trips outside the classroom to community resources such as the botanical garden and science center. Academics are complemented by extra-curricular activities that allow students to explore additional interests. Opportunities include music classes, Spanish lessons, yoga, Tia Chi, chess, tennis, and soccer. The school also offers an extended care program and a summer program that provides unique opportunities such as swimming lessons. Chesterfield Montessori School is the only St. Louis area school recognized by both the Association Montessori Internationale and accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States. Over 90% of CMS students are accepted into their first-choice secondary school, and graduates have gone on to attend some of the most prestigious schools in the St. Louis area.

I send my child to CMS because I am a public school teacher. While it is comparing apples to oranges it is also not. I see where my students are that are the same age as my child and what they know and what she knows are night and day. My school district pushes technology so hard that my students don't how to write and don't know how to find information in a book. My child can write and look up information in a book before looking online. I also personally hate common core math and so so glad she doesn't do it. I will continue to do whatever it takes to keep her there and keep her out of public schools. This is from a public school teacher.

There is no better school than CSM for my child. From the tour, all school members were/are very friendly and willing to assist with any questions. They value and approach each child individually. The confidence of my child has increased since the start of school. He is very happy at his school.

Chesterfield Montessori is such an amazing place and is/was the perfect school for both of my children. From the moment we toured, we felt at home. The teachers and school administration were incredibly welcoming and forthcoming about the school's values, not just in a performative sense where they...

This school was an absolute gem many years ago. However, in recent years, the lack of transparency and dishonesty from the administration has led to the departure of many experienced and talented teachers and staff. My deepest sympathies go out to the countless families who are mourning the loss of w...

If you're here because you're curious about if Montessori is right for your child, this is your sign that CMS is a school you should very seriously consider. I was a student here back in the early 00s, from 1st-6th grade, and I can honestly say that CMS was the catalyst for a lifetime of joy of lear...
