I went to Montera in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. I had some good teachers and some bad ones. I hated 6th grade because I was part of an awful friend group but I loved 8th grade because I was part of an amazing one. Montera had some fantastic teachers and some awful students when I was there.

Kids here tend to be extremely ableist and vape in the bathrooms. It is not a good school. Counselors aren't trustworthy in the slightest and tell anyone about your issues. Best middle school experience Oakland has to offer, not even the private schools in town can compete. And that location with all those beautiful trees in that forest… oxygen rich secluded gem!

My son and daughter both attend Montera. My husband and I are very happy with the school and its challenging curriculum, choices of classes, and hardworking teachers. The PTO is dedicated to building the community and supporting the admin, teachers, and staff.
