I am new to Oakcrest School, but I must say, I can already tell I'm lucky. Located in Vienna, this all-girls Catholic private school is home to nearly four hundred girls, four hundred green skirts, and four hundred grateful smiles. In a fantasy world, one can tell something is special when, say, you hear angelic music when you think of it. Well, I don't have to imagine; joyful singing rings through the halls in the middle of periods. On my way to the bathroom, I heard laughter amidst a theology lecture. Girls of all ages cheered for the varsity volleyball athletes during their first home game. Though my relationship with my classes spans little more than a week, I can tell I am part of something truly incredible. The freedom, faith, and friendship I have gained here excites me. The teachers are kind and accessible, and the sense of community is beautiful. However, the uniform is not so comfortable or classic, yet it's a small price for a great education and impressive facilities.

The best part are the teachers, they are willing to help you. The classes are small and very close knit and a Catholic all girls school, which leads to no boy drama. Mass is offered everyday which is amazing. The downside is that the grades do not get to mix a lot and I would like to see an imporvement

Oakcrest is an exceptional school for girls. The focus on educating the student as a whole person, and the dedication to working together with parents, as the primary educators of their daughters, is what makes the school stand out. It is a blessing that we have this opportunity to send our daughters to a school that helps girls mature into well formed and well informed women, who will seek and spread truth, beauty and goodness in the world.

I don’t even know where to start. The curriculum is very biased and patriarchal. Teachers omitted important history like the stonewall riots, trail of tears and big figures from civil rights. I had a teacher refer to the civil war as the war of northern aggression. I had another teacher tell me that...

Ironically, for an all-girls school that claims female independence and empowerment—Oakcrest is an extremely patriarchal environment that discourages freedom of thought, questioning or differing beliefs. It is an ultra-conservative environment—if you lean middle of the road or liberal, your daughter...

My two girls are being challenged daily to grow into strong and capable young women, to grow in confidence and in compassion towards others. Excellent academics, reasonable sports opportunity for a small school, and phenomenal teachers.

I learned what kind of Catholic I do not want to be, and I am extra careful to be tolerant and accepting, as Oakcrest showed me that clearly not everyone else is.
