Located on the West Side of Buffalo, New York, Dr. Antonia Pantoja Community School of Academic Success, or PS 18 is a co-educational public elementary school serving roughly 500 students in prekindergarten through eighth grade. Named for Antonia Pantoja, a grassroots organizer and activist for Puerto Rican rights who was a proponent of bilingual education, the school’s mission is to create readers, writers and thinkers. Part of the Buffalo Public School district, the vision of this tuition-free public school is to prepare students for college and careers. The renovated school building at 750 West Ave. features an outdoor playground. Extended learning time includes both academic and enrichment programs. Students also have opportunities to enjoy after-school activities and join extracurricular groups like Engineering for Kids, Girl Scouts and Soccer for Success.
